This map, titled "Istanbul Eminönü-Fatih, Ayvansaray," was created in 1918 by Necip Bey and is part of a series of maps depicting Istanbul in the late Ottoman period, shortly before World War I. The composite work measured 118 cm x 106 cm and was printed by the Hölzel Geographical Institute in Vienna.
It highlights the Eminönü-Fatih district, a historically significant area of Istanbul. Streets, neighborhoods, and public squares are meticulously depicted. Important landmarks such as mosques, churches, government buildings, and schools are marked. These structures are of great importance for understanding the sociopolitical and religious landscape of the time. The map also includes detailed representations of gardens, parks, forests, and bodies of water, illustrating the balance between city and nature. Ottoman Turkish inscriptions are found throughout the map, demonstrating Necip Bey's effort to portray the cultural and historical context of the city.
