The "Circoscrizione delle Province Ecclesiastiche e Vicariati Apostolici nell'America Settentrionale" shows the entire North American continent from the Bering Strait in the northwest to Central America and the Caribbean in the south. Canada appears as "Nuova Bretagna", the United States is divided into several ecclesiastical provinces, including Oregon, the central states, and the East Coast region around New York and Baltimore. Mexico and Central America are to the south. Numerous cities such as San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans, Quebec, and Mexico City are marked with red dots. To the right lies the "Oceano Atlantico Boreale", to the left the "Grande Oceano Boreale", while below the "Mare delle Antille" encloses the Caribbean islands, including Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica. The map impressively illustrates the extensive ecclesiastical structure of North America in the 19th century, from the Arctic mission areas of Canada to the densely populated dioceses of the American East Coast, and also includes Mexico and Central America as the southern end of the continent.
