Central buildings include the Hospice de la Salpêtrière on the Seine, the Manufacture des Gobelins, and the Jardin des Plantes at the northern edge of the map. Important streets are the Boulevard de l'Hôpital, the Avenue d'Italie, and the Boulevard Kellermann along the city fortifications. Numerous railway facilities and freight yards along the Seine characterize the eastern part of the district.
