The bilingual (Spanish-French) city map "Plano De Santa Cruz De Tenerife su rada y muelle. / Plan De Sainte Croix De Teneriffe sa rade et son mole" shows the capital of the Canary Islands, dated October 21, 1878.
The detailed plan depicts the city layout with street grid, public buildings, and fortifications, embedded in a vibrantly green colored environment, while the built-up city districts stand out in shades of pink and red. The lower part of the image is occupied by the bay with harbor facilities, pier, and numerous recorded water depth measurements. An extensive bilingual legend, comprising 40 entries, explains public institutions – including barracks, churches, batteries, consulates, and coal depots.
A decorative vignette in sepia tones on the left edge of the map shows the "Muelle de Sta. Cruz de Tenerife" with its pier, jetties, and sailing ships, adding an artistic appeal to the sheet. Accompanying bilingual texts explain the port's significance as the main supply base for coal, provisions, and wine along the transatlantic shipping routes.

Historical maps show traces of time and use, the intensity and nature of which vary depending on the map and its purpose. The offered print is a reproduction.
