This work is a large, detailed world map created in Mercator projection. The map is oriented north and centered on the Pacific – an unusual choice for world maps of that time, as the Atlantic was usually in the center. This Pacific-centered orientation places America on the right and Eurasia and Africa on the left, emphasizing the vastness of the Pacific and the continuity of the Eurasian landmass. The map consists of 4 map sheets; originally, the composite map was 154 x 110 cm.
